Step 3: Start with one single note and just listen to it. Play it again, or play another note, but don't forget to listen. Soon or later you will start to hear the next note before you would play it.
It is very important that you don't try to achieve anything special here. Sometimes I don't hear anything but I still play... maybe just a note or a chord over and over again. however, I never stop listening. My ears are waiting patiently. I know that the inspiration will hit me in its own time and then to flow will come naturally.
There are days when I try to find my center, but nothing meaningful comes out of my playing, I just can't concentrate, I am bored of the sound I am hearing. These days I keep it short and I just go to do something else.
